Celebrating the Batshaw Youth and Family Services’ Youth Advisory Council
On May 13, Stephanie Myers, teacher and Pathways coordinator, and Doug Brown, Dean of Pedagogical Innovation and Development, participated in the celebration of the first two years of the Batshaw Youth and Family Services’ Youth Advisory Council.
Stephanie and Doug were guests on the Youth Advisory Council in 2023-2024 and have hosted campus visits of potential students from Batshaw over the last several years.
Stephanie has been a major point of contact for Batshaw and has had release to help open pathways for young people from youth protection to come to John Abbott College and to help the College prepare to support them properly. Stephanie recently received a grant from the Pôle interordres de Montréal (PIM) for her innovative project aimed at improving access to higher education for youth-in-care across Québec. Batshaw’s Youth Advisory Council is an important step in the journey of improving conditions and procedures for young people in youth protection.
