Academic Advising
Academic Advising is located in Herzberg – 117 (H-117)
You can reach us by:
- Using Quick Advising services in H-117 Monday to Friday: 1:15 to 3:30 p.m. NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED, A GREAT WAY TO ASK A FEW QUESTIONS!
- Booking an appointment via the ACADEMIC ADVISOR APPOINTMENT MODULE on OMNIVOX.

Academic Success Centre (ASC)
(MIO: Academic success), email: academicsuccesscentre@johnabbott.qc.ca (follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) for essay writing support for college papers, ELL (English Language Learner) support along with peer tutoring on many of the college’s current subjects. Also, the ASC offers many types of workshops to help develop strong study skills. Our resources are available on TEAMS and on campus.

Access Centre

Campus Store
The Campus Store is the location for official John Abbott College books, course packs, stationary supplies, and merchandise. These items can be purchased in-store at SH-147 or online at https://jac.bookware3000.ca/. Pick-up and delivery options are available.
Casgrain Sports Centre
The Casgrain Sports Centre is home to the John Abbott gymnasiums, weight rooms, dance studio, pool and squash courts.
During weekdays, free access is offered to staff and students when facilities are not in use by the Physical Education department. For the exact daytime schedule or for additional information, present yourself to the Sports Centre counter or contact us at: sportscentre@johnabbott.qc.ca.
During weeknights and weekends, discounted access fees are offered to staff and students ($5.00 for daily access, 50% off yearly memberships). For more information about our operations outside of school hours, please visit:

Counselling
The Psychological and Career Counselling Service, located in H-138, offers both in-person and virtual appointments. Our new Peer Support Program offers students the opportunity to receive support from fellow John Abbott students trained in active listening. For more information about our Peer Support Program or to access the service, please send a MIO to Peer Support.
To sign up for one of our 4-week Career Exploration Workshops, MIO: Career Exploration Workshop and we will provide workshop dates and registration information. Workshops run throughout the semester; the workshop fee is $25.

Issues related to Passwords, your Office.com account, Microsoft TEAMS, Moodle or downloading software, students can send an email to: itsupport@johnabbott.qc.ca or go to the Microsoft Team called Student Peer Online Support Group (Within Teams, click on “Join or create team” and either click directly on “Student Peer Online Support Group” if you see it there or use the “Search teams” search bar in the top right and enter the team name if you don’t see it in your group of Teams).
Language Resource Centre
The Language Resource Centre is a quiet study area for students taking a language course at the College. Students have access to 33 networked computers, many in study cubicles, headsets with recording function and multilingual keyboards formatted for all the language course material and more.
The study area is located in Penfield-006 and is beside the 2 multi-media computer language labs (P-008 & P-022).
Resources include:
- All of the course material used in the computer language labs is available in the study area on the student computers.
- Audio-visual programs for French, Spanish, Italian, German and Mandarin with course texts and answers for improving comprehension and grammar skills.
- Interactive computer programs to develop reading, writing, speaking and comprehension skills.
- Internet-based language programs allowing students to study anywhere, anytime by purchasing a 4-month license for a nominal fee.
- The Antidote computer program combines grammar, spellcheck, dictionary and guides that correct as you write.
- Pronunciation Power 1 & 2 has interactive lessons and exercises to hear and produce the 52 sounds of English.
- The Acting with an accent audio program is available to Theatre students to perfect their stage voice.
- A variety of dictionaries for reference or to borrow with a JAC id card.
- A group study room.

Writing Centre
The Writing Centre is offering in-person tutoring in their new location in the library basement (L-023) M-Th 08:30-16:30 and Fridays 08:30-14:30. Students can drop in L-023 or book an appointment using the Bookings app on Teams.
They also have a few tutoring slots during the week for online tutoring. Students should join the Writing Centre Team page using the link here
Both the in-person and online schedules are posted under the “files” tab on the team page.
Students can drop-in and leave a message on the general page when a tutor is on shift or they could book an appointment using the Bookings app.
