Congratulations to Shannelle Moar: GTO Canada Scholarship Recipient!
We are incredibly proud to congratulate Shannelle Moar, a dedicated nursing student at John Abbott College, for being awarded the prestigious GTO Canada Scholarship for Indigenous Students studying in STEM fields! Hailing from Nemaska, a Cree community in Northern Quebec, Shannelle has shown remarkable determination in pursuing a career in medicine. Her dream is to become a doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, with the goal of returning to Eeyou-Istchee to provide much-needed healthcare services.
Shannelle’s journey to success includes participating in the Eagle Spirit Science Futures Camp at McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine, as well as attending the Mini-Medical School at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine. As part of John Abbott’s Indigenous knowledge ‘Iyeskuwiiu‘ (IK) program, she is an inspiring example for other Indigenous students, proving that with determination and support, the path to achieving your goals is within reach. Congratulations again, Shannelle – we can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!
