Sustainability at John Abbott College
John Abbott College takes a holistic approach to sustainability and climate action, by acknowledging that a healthy planet also means a peaceful and equitable planet. Through our 2020-2025 Strategic Plan, JAC commits to taking leadership in addressing the climate crisis in our operations, policies, learning activities and community outreach, as well as to reducing our carbon footprint and environmental impact. Ensuring student development, enhancing their potential for success and educating global citizens, means leading by example. The college’s Climate Action Plan outlines specific strategies for reducing our carbon impact in line with recommendations made by the International Panel on Climate Change. Through this plan, John Abbott College is dedicated to equipping youth with the 21st century skills they will need for building a greener workforce as well as stronger, more resilient communities.
Our sustainability actions are inspired by the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda and its corresponding Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs recognize the importance of working towards well-being for both people and planet.
