SOAR (Success through Opportunities And Representation) Mentorship Program
John Abbott College’s SOAR mentorship program aims to support racialized students, with the goal of helping them to succeed during their time at the College and beyond. Mentors in the program come from diverse cultural, educational, and professional backgrounds. SOAR provides the opportunity to relate to a mentor through common and shared lived experiences, to receive guidance, and to validate students’ ever-changing realities.
Through these meaningful connections with a mentor, SOAR strives to empower students to tap into their own unique strengths so they can thrive!
SOAR was developed with the support of a $100,000 Bell Let’s Talk post-secondary grant, which the College matched to ensure the program’s sustainable success.
