Solar Eclipse Event
What happens when six passionate science students work toward a common goal? Well, the sky is the limit!
With the help of their Physics teacher and the coordinators of JAC SandBOX (student-centered innovation and entrepreneurial centre), the Stars and Stuff students have founded an astronomy club, and are planning a mega-event around the solar eclipse of August 21.
On the first day of school at John Abbott, there will be guest speakers, treats, information booths, live streaming from NASA and, of course, free solar glasses for students and staff (limited quantities). Members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada plan to set up telescopes to show the various phases of the eclipse.
A partial view of the eclipse will be visible from the Oval between 1:20 and 3:50 p.m., weather permitting. JAC community members can use their break to go and check this out.
Solar glasses will also be available from Montreal public libraries.
