Book Launch at John Abbott College – Patrick Burger
Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC – November 17, 2016 – Patrick Burger, PhD, English Literature teacher at John Abbott College recently launched On the Precipice of Facism: The Mythic and Political in the Work of Robert E. Howard and Ernst Jünger.
Inspired while on a trip to Germany in 2002, Burger decided on the topic of his thesis which would eventually become this trilingual work that speaks to the “key role narrative plays in the scripting of human destiny,” (www.preraphaelitebrotherhoodpublishing.ca visited November 17, 2016).
The book was published in 2015 and officially launched this month among colleagues and friends at John Abbott College. Described by author and advisor Prof. Dr. Gerhard Kurz: “[T]his dissertation is unquestionably an original and masterful — sometimes too masterful — scholarly accomplishment, which develops its thesis methodically, richly and productively.”
Burger, a popular teacher for the last nineteen years, says with a smile: “every utterance, every cultural event is tied to a larger narrative.”
