La Fondation du C\u00e9gep John Abbott a c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 cinq personnes exceptionnelles dont les contributions ont laiss\u00e9 une marque durable sur le C\u00e9gep et la communaut\u00e9 dans son ensemble.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/p>\n

La Fondation, qui g\u00e8re le Temple de la distinction du C\u00e9gep John Abbott, a accueilli cinq nouveaux laur\u00e9ats lors d\u2019une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie. <\/span>r\u00e9unissant<\/span> leur famille, leurs ami(e)s, leurs coll\u00e8gues et des membres de la communaut\u00e9 du C\u00e9gep John Abbott. La c\u00e9l\u00e9bration a permis non seulement de souligner leurs r\u00e9alisations, mais aussi de rendre hommage aux personnes et aux exp\u00e9riences qui ont fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 leurs parcours.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab L\u2019\u00e9cole a vraiment contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00e9veiller quelque chose en moi. Elle m\u2019a donn\u00e9 un espace pour explorer ma cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 et elle m\u2019a donn\u00e9 la possibilit\u00e9 de r\u00eaver en grand \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 la laur\u00e9ate Akilah Newton.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Newton est l\u2019une des deux dipl\u00f4m\u00e9(e)s du C\u00e9gep John Abbott parmi les laur\u00e9at(e)s de cette ann\u00e9e dont les r\u00e9alisations les ont men\u00e9s sur les sc\u00e8nes nationale et internationale. Dipl\u00f4m\u00e9e en Arts cr\u00e9atifs, militante, entrepreneure, auteure et d\u00e9fenseure des arts, Newton a fond\u00e9 <\/span>Ouverture avec les Arts <\/span><\/i>et a contribu<\/span>\u00e9 \u00e0 outiller plus de 95,000 jeunes partout au Canada gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 programmation educative.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brent Lakatos, dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 en Sciences et l\u2019un des athl\u00e8tes paralympiques les plus d\u00e9cor\u00e9s du Canada, a connu une carri\u00e8re exceptionnelle comme athl\u00e8te de calibre mondial en course en fauteuil roulant et m\u00e9daill\u00e9 \u00e0 plusieurs reprises aux Jeux paralympiques. Frank Lovasco, professeur de math\u00e9matiques au C\u00e9gep John Abbott et l\u2019un de ceux qui ont propos\u00e9 sa candidature, a soulign\u00e9 les qualit\u00e9s qui s\u2019\u00e9taient d\u00e9marqu\u00e9es durant son passage au C\u00e9gep.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Brent \u00e9tait l\u2019\u00e9tudiant id\u00e9al. Il \u00e9tait intelligent, consciencieux, autonome et travaillant. Tr\u00e8s travaillant. Il avait toujours h\u00e2te d\u2019apprendre de nouvelles choses. Il participait \u00e9galement activement en classe \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Coll\u00e8ge a \u00e9galement rendu hommage au Dr<\/span>.<\/span> Richard Germain, m\u00e9decin de longue date au C\u00e9gep John Abbott et dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 en Sciences de la sant\u00e9, qui consacre depuis pr\u00e8s de 30 ans son travail \u00e0 prendre soin de milliers <\/span>d\u2019\u00e9tudiant(<\/span>e)<\/span>s<\/span> et \u00e0 les accompagner<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations d\u2019\u00e9tudiant(e)s l\u2019ont d\u00e9crit comme une personne accessible, compatissante et sans jugement \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Dennis Waide, directeur des services aux \u00e9tudiants du C\u00e9gep John Abbott, en pr\u00e9sentant le Dr Germain.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab Il \u00e9tait particuli\u00e8rement d\u00e9vou\u00e9 \u00e0 soutenir les \u00e9tudiant(e)s vuln\u00e9rables, ceux et celles qui vivaient loin de chez eux et toute personne faisant face \u00e0 des difficult\u00e9s personnelles ou de sant\u00e9, qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse de prolonger les heures d\u2019ouverture de la clinique, d\u2019aider un athl\u00e8te bless\u00e9 ou de trouver le temps d\u2019ajouter un rendez-vous. On le conna\u00eet pour toujours trouver une fa\u00e7on d\u2019aider. \u00bb<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Deux membres de la communaut\u00e9 du C\u00e9gep John Abbott ont \u00e9t\u00e9 honor\u00e9s \u00e0 titre posthume. Lucie Fournier, ancienne directrice g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de la Fondation C\u00e9gep John Abbott, a \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnue pour son leadership dans le renforcement de la Fondation et son engagement de longue date envers la communaut\u00e9 de l\u2019Ouest-de-l\u2019\u00cele.\u00a0<\/span> L\u2019un des \u00e9v\u00e9nements de financement les plus populaires de la Fondation, La <\/span>folie<\/span> des huards<\/span>, a \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9 durant son mandat et se poursuit encore aujourd\u2019hui.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La c\u00e9r\u00e9monie du Temple de la Distinction s\u2019inscrivait dans le cadre du week-end des retrouvailles du C\u00e9gep John Abbott, qui a r\u00e9uni des dipl\u00f4m\u00e9(e)s, des \u00e9tudiant(e)s, des familles, des membres du corps professoral et du personnel ainsi que des membres de la communaut\u00e9 pour c\u00e9l\u00e9brer les Islanders d\u2019hier et d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vendredi soir, les \u00e9quipes sportives d\u2019Abbott ont donn\u00e9 aux spectateurs du week-end des retrouvailles de quoi se r\u00e9jouir, alors que les \u00e9quipes f\u00e9minines de basketball et de rugby ainsi que l\u2019\u00e9quipe masculine de rugby ont toutes remport\u00e9 leur match, faisant de leur premier match \u00e0 domicile de la saison un moment m\u00e9morable.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le divertissement du week-end s\u2019est poursuivi au-del\u00e0 des terrains avec une lecture th\u00e9\u00e2tralis\u00e9e de <\/span><\/span>Salt-Water Moon<\/span><\/span>, \u00e9crite par David French et mise en sc\u00e8ne par Tracy Leigh Campbell, professeure de th\u00e9\u00e2tre. <\/span>La production mettait en vedette deux dipl\u00f4m\u00e9s du programme, Samira Bergeron et Nathaniel Labrie, dans les r\u00f4les des deux personnages de la pi\u00e8ce.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Le week-end des retrouvailles s\u2019est conclu samedi avec le match de football des Islanders contre le C\u00e9gep de Saint-Hyacinthe. Bien que les Islanders se soient inclin\u00e9s 44-31, le r\u00e9sultat est pass\u00e9 au second plan devant les c\u00e9l\u00e9brations qui se d\u00e9roulaient autour du terrain, notamment un barbecue, un camion de cuisine de rue servant des tacos et un tailgate organis\u00e9 par des parents, qui ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019ambiance festive.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les gradins \u00e9taient bond\u00e9s alors que les gens s\u2019\u00e9taient rassembl\u00e9s pour encourager les Islanders. Des dipl\u00f4m\u00e9(e)s sont venus de partout au pays, certains ayant m\u00eame pris l\u2019avion, pour retourner l\u00e0 o\u00f9 tout a commenc\u00e9, et un accueil particulier a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9serv\u00e9 \u00e0 la promotion de 1976.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
