Services

INTERNET
A high speed Internet service is available in the residence and each bedroom has been wired with one Internet connection per bedroom. This means that only one computer at a time can be hooked up to this connection. It is recommended that you contact your roommate and determine who will bring a computer to hook up to the Internet, or agree to use a splitter or switch to divide the connection. It is important to note that you will NOT be able to use your telephone line to access an alternate Internet Server and so please make the necessary arrangements so that you can benefit from the Internet service being supplied by the College. You will need the following in order to hook up the College Internet Server:

10/100 Ethernet card installed in your computer.
Patch Cord for the Ethernet approximately 6 feet long- Cat.5E- also available at any computer supply store.
10/100 Ethernet switch to operate two computers using the one connection in each bedroom.

TELEPHONE SERVICE
The current telephone service will allow students to make free local telephone calls, receive outside calls and each student will have a personal voice mailbox in order to retrieve their messages. Each bedroom has been outfitted with a telephone and so there is no need for you to bring a telephone with you. The telephone in each bedroom will be shared between the two students in that bedroom but each student will have their own voice mail account on the telephone. You will be able to retrieve your voice messages from your telephone when the message indicator is flashing. All the telephones in the residence rooms will have an emergency button that will call Campus Security directly thus increasing security within the residence.

LAUNDRY ROOM
The laundry room in the Stewart Apartments has five washers and five dryers to service our residents. The laundry room is open 24 hours a day and features a smart card system on each laundry machine so that no actual cash is in the machines. Each student will be issued a laundry smart card upon request that they will use while in residence for the laundry machines. Each student will place money into a charging machine that will transfer this dollar amount onto the laundry smart card of the student. The student will then simply place the smart card into the laundry machines and it will deduct the cost of the service from the card. When the money on the card has been exhausted, the student will simply recharge their laundry smart card at the recharging station located in the laundry room.
