JOHN ABBOTT LOOKS FOR NEW WOMEN’S HOCKEY COACH

Following the departure of longtime hockey coach Hank Binning, John Abbott College is looking for a dynamic leader who is committed to guide the Lady Islander hockey program as they continue to compete in the Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) Division 1 league.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years related coaching experience or equivalent and will be responsible for the hiring of the coaching staff, developing an annual plan, and recruiting quality student-athletes to John Abbott.   The candidate will also promote and support student-athlete academic success, develop a team fundraising program and liaise with the Sports & Recreation Department regarding all aspects of the program.  The ideal coach will also be a solid role model within the College community and enjoy good relations with Hockey Quebec.

We are looking for someone with an outstanding record of communication, strong leadership skills and who has a passion for the game of hockey.  Experience coaching within the RSEQ would be considered an asset.

A minimum of HP1 with Hockey Quebec is required by league rules. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered but a commitment to attaining this minimum level will be required. Strong verbal communication skills in both English and French are necessary.

The position of Head Coach of the women’s hockey program at John Abbott is a part-time appointment and reports to the Chairman of the Sports and Recreation Department.   More info may be obtained by calling Steve Shaw at (514) 457-6610 local 5322.
